Technical Writer
Service-now.com, based in Solana Beach, CA, is currently seeking a Technical Writer to work closely with both our Product Development and Customer Support departments to create, edit, and deliver technical documentation.
Our product is complex and we do not use auto-generating documentation software, so you will be expected to work both individually and in a team setting to create documentation from the ground up. Because we emphasize both process- and feature-oriented documentation, you will be expected to master the use of our software and be able to clearly explain its functionality and benefits in words to users in levels of expertise ranging from novice to developer.
This opportunity is for the experienced technical writer with excellent organization, communication, and writing skills coupled with an eye for detail. This ideal candidate is motivated, a quick learner, and able to grasp complex software. Our documentation is presented in wiki format so experience in this environment and in wiki markup language is greatly preferred. Skills
- At least 3 years of proven technical documentation writing and editing experience, ideally with software products.
- Experience in wiki formatting, article creation, and topic organization required. Media wiki experience a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to operate in an accelerated project cycle both independently and in a collaborative environment.
- A basic understanding of the ITIL business process and IT service management as a business discipline.
- Areas of software development specialty such as APIs, Java, scripting, SaaS, ITIL, ITSM are greatly advantageous.
- BA or graduate degree in English with technical training or certification a plus.
