What is the Refer a Customer program?
Service-now.com’s Refer a Customer Program is just that – a mechanism which allows individuals or organizations to refer a prospective customer to Service-now.com and to share in the commercial transaction.

How does it work?

Companies or individuals who think that they know of an organization that might be interested in evaluating and licensing our technology, may refer that organization to Service-now.com through a simple registration process. We then get together and jointly approach the customer. Should Service-now.com be the selected technology by the customer, Service-now.com will manage the transaction directly with the customer and then pay you a referral fee.  

How do I register a prospect?

You can register your prospect by clicking here. We don’t ask for much; your name, email, phone number and the name of the prospective customer organization and their location.

What happens once I register my prospect?
We contact you directly and have a conversation about your organization, your prospect and their business objectives. If we are all in agreement that we might have a potential solution that meets your prospect’s needs, we will both figure out how to get engaged at the customer site.

Do I get compensated for referring a prospective customer?
Yes – as long as your company will allow it. Service-now.com will provide a 10% referral fee for any Service-now.com licenses subscribed to within 18 months of the registration.

Why 18 months from registration?
It is reasonable to anticipate that many sales cycles will take 3 to 6 months to complete and our customers will often increase their licenses once they put the system into production. Generally speaking there is license growth in the first year of the agreement and we believe you should share in that revenue.

How and when do I get paid?
You get paid once the transaction is completed and the customer pays us. We’ll track where the registration came from and let you know when we get paid. You send an invoice and we send a check. It’s that simple.

Can I earn more than the 10%?

Certainly. Organizations or individuals referring at least five deals that we end up closing will earn 12.5%. Once we do ten deals together, we’ll throw in an additional 2.5 points to bring it up to a cool 15%. Not bad for throwing us a name!

What if it turns out that Service-now.com is already engaged with my prospect?

If we are already working on the same project then we will inform you as to who and to what extent we are already working with them. In this case we won’t be in a position to pay a referral fee but we are very happy to work with you as to your possibly supporting the implementation, assuming that is what the customer wants to do.

Can I or my company do the implementation?

Possibly – If you or your organization is in the business of implementing IT service management solutions in the large enterprise and the customer wants you to lead the implementation then we will be equally supportive.


What if the customer insists that Service-now.com lead the implementation?

It happens. Some customers feel better when the developer has their own resources on the project. If that is the case then let’s talk about your sub-contracting to us, as long as the customer is cool with that.

How will we work together on the implementation?

Generally speaking, if you are selected to lead the implementation, we will provide system administration training to you with the goal of enabling you to implement Service-now.com. Should you find yourself in need of Service-now.com professional services to support the implementation, then we can provide those services for a fee paid by either yourself or your customer. It all depends on the customer, what they want to accomplish, your skill set and how complex the implementation will be. All of that will become pretty clear during the sales process.

What services does Service-now.com provide as part of the implementation under this program?
Generally speaking we will provide what we call the Core System Set Up – deploying the applications, integrating to LDAP/Active Directory, integrating to email and providing system administration training for both yourself and the customer which will cover things like; architecture, use, setting up groups, users, creating roles, customizing forms, automating workflow, integrating etc.

Who does the price quoting, draws up and manages the contracts etc.?

We do all that. Once we understand the customer’s objectives, we will propose the appropriate technology, provide pricing and licensing options and quotes, structure the business relationship, draw up and execute the contract directly with the customer.

What if I am not ready to provide the name of my prospect to you?

What kind of a partner agreement do we sign?

Nothing to sign. Once you register your prospect we will automatically email you a copy of this agreement.

Who can participate in this program?
Virtually anyone. We welcome anyone to register a referral with us: system integrators, business process consulting organizations, independent consultants, analysts, current customers, grandparents, friends of the family and even our competition (bring us to the dance – if you don’t win the deal, you can still earn a referral fee).

What if I am the prospect?

What else do I need to know?

You should know that we strive to be a very different software company in everything we do. We will quickly and honestly respond to your registration. Assuming we are not already engaged with the prospect, we will tell you so. Our view is that we would rather pay you 10% of the deal and approach the prospect together than try to use your information on our own. We’re assuming that if you are registering a prospect, you have some connection to the project and that will serve us both well. We promise to be respectful of your relationship with the prospect and never forget who brought us to the dance. Lastly, we promise to not embarrass you in front of your prospect – we’ll show up, demo our technology and let it speak for itself.
